September is Coming...

I can't believe that summer is almost over! I know a lot of people always say that but I really can't believe it this year. I was thinking the other day that December sounds so far away when it is August, but once you get into September (and the other "ber" months) it seems just around the corner. Really, once September starts the baby could be only 3 months away if she comes a couple of weeks early! Crazy to think about.

Juliana's Portrait

The proofs from Juliana's portrait shoot at JCPenny were posted online today! This is the shot that I ordered. My little girl is getting so big!

Pregnancy Amnesia

I seriously think that something causes women to forget just how uncomfortable they were when they were pregnant so they won't be discouraged from doing it again. I'm in my 6th month now and I completely don't remember feeling so bulky and achey. Maybe I felt completley normal last time, but I doubt it! I remember the horrible morning sickness in the beginning as well as being in a super toasty apartment the final month before Juli was born with my face pressed up against the air conditioner, but I don't remember much about the other inbetween months. Well, I shouldn't complain that much because there are days when I feel very cute and happy being pregnant, just today was not one of those days! Maybe when my little nugget starts kicking later tonight I will snap out of it!

Stork Snapshots

I just found out a business called Stork Snapshots that does 3D ultrasound packages is opening up in Naperville- literally down the street from me- on Route 59. Now I have to spend the next few months trying not to drive down there and drop a load of cash on a photo and dvd package! I'm sure I can restrain myself but the 3D imaging looks sooooo cool.

Jason Likes a Name!!!

I can't believe I finally got a response other then "eh" about a name from Jason! After ruling out Sophie and Mya and not being too sure about Emma, he asked him today if he like the name Ava Sophia or Ava Elisabeth and he said YES. I'm not saying this will definitely be her name just yet, but at least we have another name besides Emma that we both like and is not too terribly popular either.

5 Months/ Development Info

Some interesting tidbits on development at 22 weeks:

How your baby's growing: Your baby now looks like a miniature newborn. She's 11 inches long and weighs about 15 ounces. Her lips are becoming more distinct and her eyes are developed, though the iris (the colored part of the eye) still lacks pigment. Eyebrows and eyelids are in place. Her pancreas, essential for hormone production, is developing steadily. The first signs of teeth appear as buds beneath the gum line. Before you know it, your baby will be smiling at you.

Gotta Love Reese

If I could look as good pregnant as this girl does, I'd be pretty happy.

No toothpick limbs stuck on a bowling ball belly for this chick. Nice to see.

On another note, I think I'd like to have some actual nice photos taken of me while I have my belly. I didn't do it when I was pregnant with Juli because I was too self conscious but I think I'm over it now. Plus, I'd like to have a nice pregnant photo of me this time around instead of the ones I have of me making a weird face and looking uncomfortable!

Well, I'm plugging along with my baby purchases. I'm lucky that I don't have to buy many large items this time around since I've saved most of Juliana's things. However, I bought a horribly cheap stroller for Juli that I've always hated so I'm going to order a new "travel system" for the new girlie probably this coming week. I also would like to get my hands on a double stroller at some point since I'm pretty sure Juli will need to be strapped to something if I take them both out together! I really don't want her running away from me at the mall while I'm pushing a little bebe in a stroller (and trust me, she would run away if she got the chance!)

More Name Input

Ok, since you all seem to be coming out of the woodwork to comment now that I'm posting name stuff, what do you think of the name Mya Elisabeth? That is another one of my favorites. I'm still hanging on to Emma Sophia but am going to test the waters with a few others. (Oh, and Billy- Abbie/Abby really isn't in the running with me anymore so you don't have to worry about that one!)

Ok, I love love love the name Emma but I am torn because it is so popular right now. It's in the top 10 most popular baby girl names this year! I really really love it though so I'm wondering if I shouldn't worry so much about it's popularity. The name Emma Sophia is my favorite name on my list. I know I said earlier that I would never use the name Jacob for a boy because it is too popular, but I didn't love that name as much as this one! Well, I still have four months to decide, and I suppose Jason deserves some input too. :-) I don't know any other little girls named Emma right now and there weren't any in Juliana's daycare or any of the classes at the community center so maybe it's not as prominent in our area? (Crossing my fingers...) Any input on this topic would be appreciated!

More Fetal Development Photos

Photos of a fetus at 20 weeks gestation. Neat!

Here's me and my big old belly just short of 5 months! This is what I looked like last time around 6 1/2 months. Gotta love that muscle memory. I gained 38 lbs with Juliana and I was hoping to not get as big this time but seeing that I've gained 20 lbs so far (at 21 weeks), I seem to be right on track for that same number. Oh well. It's all for a good cause! I just feel roly poly all over since I'm not one of those annoying actresses that only gets a big round belly. I get puffy everywhere! :-(

Now to decide on a name...

It's a GIRL!!!

Juliana is going to have a baby sister! Apparently the ultrasound tech had no trouble determining the gender- it was the fist thing she said when the baby showed up on the screen! I was kind of surprised at first but really happy about it. I'm just so glad I know now! We had to wait a long time to get into our appointment (because of some scheduling glithces) but the woman was super nice and took extra time with us and gave us tons of pictures plus a video! I forgot how fun and amazing it is to see so clearly things like the heartbeat and the baby's spine. The difference between the 10 and 20 week ultrasounds is crazy. Well, I will be scanning in the best of the pics that we got and Jason will capture the video, so hopefully we will have them up later today. I've also got tons of baby girl clothes to pull out of the basement and wash. Yay!!

if i were a bettin man...

i would put some coin on a boy tomorrow. This is not my preference, see, I'm just sayin. Tracey's family has a history of girl-boy, and my family has a lot of girls.

So I'm just sayin. ;)

Also, we may have some ultrasound video to post tomorrow. Of course, I said that. Tracey may not want to put that up here.

4 More Days

4 more days until I can shop for blue or pink! After weeks of insisting it is a girl, Juliana has switched teams, now declaring it is a baby boy. At just over 19 weeks, I can't believe I'm about half way there! 4 1/2 months down...

At 15 centimeters crown to rump, and weighing eight ounces, your baby is getting big! This week, permanent teeth buds are forming behind the milk teeth buds.

Another webiste said the baby is now about the size of a banana. :-)
