Big Me

Here I am at just about 28 weeks! Only 12 more to go before I can get rid of this big old belly. I really cannot wait to be able to do Pilates and kickboxing classes again. I stretch at home and use handweights and such but I am really looking forward to getting back into shape in January. Who knows if I'll even have any time to eat anymore with two little girls under age 4 at home!

Food cravings this week:

1) Chicken Pot Pies
2) Healthy Choice TV Dinners (anything with meat and potatoes in it!)
3) Hard Candy

I figure there's probably tons of salt in all those frozen dinners so I'm continuing to drink lots of water to offset all the sodium. I usually never like frozen tv dinners so eating those little pot pies is really strange for me! I have no idea what made me buy them but now I can't get enough.

Note to self: I will take new belly pictures tomorrow!!!

Sleepless Nights and Other Stuff

I really really enjoy a good night's sleep so it's VERY frustrating when I can't get comfortable at night anymore. The past few days I've been up half the night! I have a really hard time staying comfortable and baby Ava likes to be quite active around 1 or 2 in the morning. I've also been having a hard time shutting my brain down and I seem to have a hundred things running through my mind when I'm trying to rest. I think tonight if I can't sleep again, I'll just get up and start reading a book or something until I get completely exhausted. I also should start doing some yoga and relaxation exercises before bed, since I haven't been so good about doing that over the past couple of weeks.

In other news, I have my glucose tolerance test next week and I'm crossing my fingers that everything comes back fine and that I haven't developed gestational diabetes. I didn't develop it last time, but for some reason I've been more paranoid about things like this in this pregnancy. I seem to be more aware of all kinds of pregnancy complications this time around than I was with Juliana. I'm sure it's all just needless worrying. I don't really know what causes gestational diabetes but I definitely have a very active sweet tooth so I hope I haven't set anything in motion by indulging too much in my soda pop and candy cravings! I stil drink lots and lots of water so I've been patting myself on the back for at least being good about that.

Just so I don't sound like a complete baby, I have had a fairly good week. I've been going into full blown nesting mode now that we had the living room painted and the ceramic tile done. Everything just looks so nice and pretty that I've been inspired to get/keep things super organized. I'm a fairly neat person so begin with but when I get on a roll I get kind of crazy!

Third Trimester!

Well, I'm just about 27 weeks so I'm going to go ahead and say I'm in my third trimester as of now. I've heard some people say it starts after 26 weeks and others say it starts at 28 weeks so now that I'm beginning the 28th week (as well as month number 7) I'm going to declare me third trimester woman. I've been quite busy this past week so I haven't been updating the site lately but I should be getting a new belly picture up soon. Jason took some pictures of me last night but I thought they looked terrible so I deleted them. Hey, I may be pregnant but I can still be a little bit vain, can't I?

I can't breathe!

Seriously. This baby girl is up so high that I can hardly get air into my lungs, especially when I'm sitting or going up stairs. Juliana was the exact same way. I think my babies like to lie completely stretched out in the womb rather than curling up super tight like normal little fetuses.

Middle Names

Still going around and around on this one. Elizabeth was my Mom's middle name and I like it but as I posted below there are a couple of celebrities with girls named Ava Elizabeth so Jason isn't really going for it. My Grandma's middle name is Marie but I think Ava Marie makes me think of the song "Ave Maria" too much! Jason sort of likes Ava Sophia but isn't totally loving it. I was wondering if having two middle names was really strange? I like the sound of Ava Sophia Marie but think it might be too long. However, Juliana Isabelle is a long name to say too! I also was kicking around Ava Elyse (since Elyse is a form of Elizabeth) but thought it maybe was kind of hard to say? I just can't decide. I'm going to get out my name books again this afternoon.

Also, I read today that the name Ava is gaining popularity this year. I'm absolutely going to scream if it ends up in the top ten like Emma. I'm already dealing with the fact that Steph's half-siser used that name and that is about all I can take!

This and That

Big cravings of the week:

1)Salt and Vinegar chips. Mmmmmmm..... Can't get enough of them.
2) Ice Cream. Of course I may just be using the pregnancy as an excuse!
3) Lots and lots of water! At least I like something good for me.

Let's see what else is going on.... I had another ultrasound last week because at the 20 week ultrasound Ava's kidneys weren't quite developed enough so they wanted another peek. It turns out everything is beautiful and she is measuring approximately 1 pound and 15 ounces. Don't ask me how they can determine that. Also, as of this week Juliana is almost completely potty trained!!! Most of the time, she even refuses any help and makes you wait outside the door, can you believe it? We went out last night for dinner with Billy at Capri and she wore big girl pants the whole time. I have to take her to the potty at every restaurant or store we visit just to see what it looks like but that's a small price to pay. I'm looking forward to three months of no diapers or pullups!

I Want to Keep this Name!!

Ok, over the past couple of weeks, Jason and I had decided that we love the name Ava and that will be the name of our little girl. Even Juli has been talking to "Baby Ava" in my belly. Well, I talked to Stephanie today and it turns out her half-sister Kirsten had a baby girl last week and named her Ava! Well, aside from being initially disappointed, I still definitely want to keep it since I never ever see Kirsten and hardly know her at all. (She lives in New Jersey, I think.) I'm just kind of bummed because I thought I picked a name that nobody else I know has! But I told Jason about this and he didn't sound as sure about keeping it. We have to! I'm totally set on this. Well then I made the mistake of telling him that both Heather Locklear and Reese Witherspoon have daughters named Ava. He was not too happy about knowing that two celebrity babies have that name as well. We don't even know these people! I mean, it's next to impossible to come up with a name that nobody you know (or have ever known) has, much less all the people in Hollywood. I'm very frustrated.

I would love for this baby girl to be named either Ava Sophia or Ava Elisabeth.
Ava is only #83 on the Social Security Administration's list of popular baby names, opposed to Emma (our previous name) at #4.

24 Weeks

Well, I had another Dr. appointment today and everything is going according to schedule. Things seem to be moving along very quickly! I came home and watched a few episodes of "A Baby Story" on TLC, which I am now seriously addicted to. However, I watched another show called "Maternity Ward" the other day on the same channel and got completely freaked out when they showed a baby born at only 25 weeks. SO SCARY. Pregnant women should be warned to never watch this show since they only seem to show complicated births and premature babies. The last thing I need to do is spend the next three months worrying!

I also ordered my new stroller today from Target and got free shipping to boot. One more thing to cross off my list!

Another "Moo" Picture

Here I am in the middle of my 6th month! Just about 24 weeks to be exact. I read today that in 2 weeks I will start the 3rd trimester. It feels like my belly is much huger than you can see in this picture. It also feels like my ribcage has expanded and that my normally large head is now too small for my body!
