Happy Day

I had the best day yesterday! First of all, I was early to my Dr. appointment and they must have had some people cancel because they took me in right away instead of having me wait until my scheduled appointment time. Then, I stepped on the scale and only gained 2 pounds this month which made me SO happy since last month I gained 8!!! I was hoping I would slow down at the end like I did with Juliana and it was such a relief. So the appointment was very quick and I was in and out in all of 15 minutes! Then, since I will be coming to the Dr. more frequently as my due date approaches, I actually got to schedule my next 4 appointments all the way up to December 20! Hopefuly that will be the last one I need. I have appointments for 35 weeks, 37 weeks, 38 weeks and 39 weeks. That was all I needed with Juliana so I'm crossing my fingers that history will repeat itself with this baby...

32 Weeks

I have my 32 week appointment tomorrow! Only a couple more appointments left now. Here's some info I found on fetal development at this stage. It sounds like the baby is getting HUGE in there...

By now, your baby probably weighs about 3 3/4 pounds and is about 16 1/2 inches long no wonder it feels so crowded in there! Though his lungs won't be fully developed until just before birth, your little one is inhaling amniotic fluid to exercise his lungs and practice breathing. Some babies have a head of hair already; others have only a few wisps.

I should have yet another photo up tomorrow as well. Thankfully, everything seems to be slowing down for me (as in how big I'm getting!) I had a huge growth spurt over weeks 24 through 28 but this month I can't really tell much difference. Hopefully any more pounds I gain in the next 8 weeks will go to making little Ava chubby rather than making me chubbier.

More Nesting

I seem to get these strange bursts of energy lately where I get all kinds of little projects done that I normally procrastinate about. I just hung a new shelf in Juli and Ava's room, fixed Juliana's star lamp, hung a baby quilt on the wall by Ava's crib. I've also been getting a lot of work done on Juliana's scrapbook so hopefully it will be all finished and up to date by December. I'm continuing to go through all my stuff in the storage room and scheduled an appointment for the Amvets people to come pick up a few bags of donations. Jason has also been on the cleaning kick, which is nice, and he has gotten a lot of work done in the basement, organizing all of our music and photos. We bought a new scanner so we should be scanning in a lot of negatives that have been sitting in a box for the past five years... A big project I'd like to get going on this coming month is sanding and repainting the dresser I have for the girls. It is the same dresser both my grandma and my mom used and now Juliana has it. I'd love to paint it in multi-pastel colors but I have to get somebody to move it out into the garage so I have plenty of ventilation.

The Big 3-0

Well, I'll be 30 weeks along on Wednesday but I was in the picture taking mood this evening so here are the 30 week photos about 2 days early. I also added a link to the Expanding Belly Timeline under the 'Links' section on the left side of this page...

Juli decided to get in on the fun and stick her belly out for the camera too...

I also realized today that in 7 weeks I will be full term and Baby Ava can make her appearance any time then!

Yummy

Big Craving of the Week: ROOT BEER! And since it has no caffeine I can drink a bunch of it while watching the Cubbies (hopefully) advance to the World Series tonight! I also passed my glucose tolerance test so I don't have to worry about giving up my beloved sugar. (At least until after the baby is born and then no more sugar for me for a while...)

Yet Another Week Gone By...

Well, I'm 29 weeks today! In 10 more days I will begin my 8th month already. It seems like it's going so fast but at the same time I just know the last 2 months are going to drag like crazy. At least it will be the holidays so maybe I'll have other things to preoccupy myself with. I think I'll start posting belly pictures every two weeks starting at week 30 so look for that next week! I added a page where you can see the photo progression so far here.

Making Lists

Well, with just a little over 2 months left, I think I'm doing fairly well with my list of items I need before little Ava gets here. I was lucky enough to still have a crib and changing table, as well as a playpen, bouncer seat, bassinet and high chair. I've also recently bought a new stroller and carseat so most of the big ticket items are taken care of. I think the next thing I will pick up is a baby swing because I had one with Juliana and she absolutely loved it when she was fussy. However, the one I used with her was from a garage sale and pretty much fell apart after a while so I'm going to have to go buy another one. I was hoping to find a swing over the summer at a garage sale around here but nobody really has sales in our area! I probably should have just driven to Rockford to look since everybody has garage sales there but I never did it. That's ok though. The only other thing I can think of that I really need after the swing is a diaper bag since I got rid of my old one a long time ago. I'm also going to start picking up cans of formula and newborn diapers each time I go to the grocery store so I'll have a stockpile of that stuff by Christmas.

Still Somewhat Original...

I just found out today that Steph's sister Kirsten named her baby girl Ayla, NOT Ava!! I am so excited that the name Ava is really all mine now! (Well, not really mine but I'm still very happy about it.)
