Shrinking Tracey

Well, Ava is two weeks old and luckily I've already lost 25 pounds! Only 20 more to go so wish me luck. I've just started slowly exercising again so hopefully I'll be able to keep this up...

Sweet Little Thing...

ava.jpg

Ava is the sweetest, most content little baby so far! Jason and I have been on cloud nine these past few days. I will be posting her birthday story soon, but of course, I'm pretty busy now that I have two girls at home! Luckily, Jason has been a huge help so I'm not very tired at all yet. Also, the title of this page will soon be changing to the Gessner Girls Page, where you can get all the latest news about both Ava and Juliana.

Ava Elisabeth Gessner

Ava Elisabeth arrived on December 17th at 7:45pm! She decided that she wanted to choose her own birthday and Mommy went into labor naturally one day before she was scheduled to be induced. I am so happy things went the way they did! Ava weighed in at 8 lbs 15 oz is 21 1/2 inches long. More details to come later as right now I am exhausted, though happy to be home after only 24 hours in the hospital after a perfectly smooth delivery...

Thursday??

Well, here's an exciting update: I saw my doctor this morning and although nothing else has changed yet, we decided that if I don't go into labor in the next couple of days I will be able to be induced on Thursday and have my baby by that evening! This was brought up to me at my previous appointment and although at first I was wary, I have decided to go ahead and do it. I would prefer to go into labor naturally (and I still might!) but if I make it to Thursday I will go to the hospital where they will give me Pitocin and then break my water. This doesn't seem so bad since I went into labor naturally with Juliana and still ended up being given Pitocin after my labor stalled and the doctors had to break my water even though I was already 7 cm dilated when I got to the hospital.

Sooooo..... we're pretty excited here now that we know that the whole family will be home for Christmas instead of in the hospital! I'm still sort of hoping though that something will happen in the next day or two, so you never know...

Still here....

Well, nothing is happening yet. Every night I start to get contractions but they don't come at regular intervals and they don't get consistently stronger. It starts at around 3 or 4 in the afternoon like clockwork, goes on and off until around 10 pm, and then suddenly stops. I feel kind of bad because everyone is so excited and on edge and I just won't deliver the goods, so to speak! Every time I hold my stomach in pain, Jason asks if anything is happening and I keep saying no. I definitely remember what the real thing feels like and it's a lot more painful than what I'm experiencing now, even if I do complain a lot about it. The most annoying thing is still how low she feels- it's like I can hardly walk! My lower back, hips and legs are really really sore but I want to keep moving because I know that activity is good for starting labor. Well, I suppose it's better if I hold off for a few more days anyway since it will be so much easier for family to take care of Juliana over the weekend than during the week. Jason did predict a while back that Ava would be born on the 13th and more I think about it, that doesn't sound so bad- even if it means a couple more days of discomfort.

Something's Starting...

Well I just got back from the doctor and she told me that right now I am already nearly 3 cm dilated! I can't believe I am so lucky two times now to get a jump start on actual labor. She said that the baby's head is way down (I could have told her that!) and that everything looks very favorable for having the baby before my due date. My next appointment is in 9 days it's quite possible that I won't even need it! With Juliana, I was 2cm dilated at 39 weeks and I had her within days of that appointment. We're so excited! If it wasn't so cold maybe I'd go run around the block in hopes of kicking things into motion.

Am I Done Yet?

Ok, this is it. This is really as big as I get. I don't think it's possible for me to get any larger than I am right now. Luckily, I've been about the same size for a couple of weeks now so I think we're at the end of the road. I've decided to put together and "Incredible Shrinking Tracey" webpage after Ava is born to help me feel better about all these photos of my large self I'm sharing with the world. I absolutely cannot wait to exercise like I used to again!!

FULL TERM TODAY!!!!

The baby is technically fully cooked as of today! I have a doctor's appointment on Saturday morning so hopefully she will be able to tell me if there are any signs of labor coming on. I really hope that something is happening, especially with all that I've been feeling over the past couple of weeks. Jason wants them to take a look at me and decide to wheel me across the way to the hospital!

It's December!!!!

I can't believe it is FINALLY December! I will be full term on Wednesday ! I think we're pretty prepared too. Today I'm going to install Ava's carseat and put together her swing. There are only a couple of things I still would like to get but nothing urgent. I need to get a diaper bag but the ony ones I like are kind of expensive (around $58 at www.babystyle.com) so I'm going to wait until I get all my Christmas shopping done to see if I can splurge on little something special for me. Most bags I see in the store for around $30-35 are either plain black or have Winnie the Pooh all over them which is not really my style. I also need to get a diaper pail which is a completely unglamorous and boring thing to buy but will be needed unless I want to run up and down the stairs with dirty diapers all day. I'm also thinking that one of those baby carriers where they are strapped on to the front of you like a kangaroo baby might be helpful around the house if I have to chase after Juliana. I'll probably check on ebay for one of those. I used to have one made by Baby Bjorn but I sold it since they are fairly popular.

Well, I've got lots to get done today. I just wanted to share my excitement that the month little Ava will be born in is finally here!
