The Life and Times of Junie B.
I finally broke down and bought Juliana a few "Junie B. Jones" books from Target last week. Apparently, Junie B. is the new Ramona Quimby, which is what I grew up reading and always loved. The first thing you must learn about Junie B. Jones is that you always have to say her name really fast, like JOONABEEJONES. At least that is how Juliana says it when she talks about her- which is basically every time she opens her mouth. For example:
"Mom, will you read me JOONABEEJONES?
"Bailee has JOONABEEJONES. She got lots of JOONABEEJONES for her birthday."
"Before I didn't have JOONABEEJONES, but now that I do have JOONABEEJONES I like to read JOONABEEJONES every day. Just like Bailee.
And so on.
They are chapter books so it will be a while before she can read them by herself but we've been having a good time reading them together, even though she always wants me to finish the entire thing in one sitting. She gets a kick out of hearing stories about a kindergartener like she will soon be. Joonabeejones, you see, is a lot like Juliana herself- which is (how should we put this?) a little spunky. Energetic. Free-spirited. I'm sure you get it.
