18 Months Old!

puddingface.jpg

Ava had her 18-month doctor appointment on Wednesday and she is 33 3/4 inches tall and 26.4 pounds! She is still off the chart on her height and is in the upper percentiles for weight. Jason swears she will be tall like him but I'm still skeptical since I started out as a tall baby (HA!) and with the exception of the male Gessners, she comes from a long line of shorties. You can't fight genetics people.

She is saying so many words now that I find it hard to keep up. My absolute favorite is when I come into her room in the morning and she's standing there beaming as she says, "HI MAMA!" Since she is a true girly girl, her favorite thing to talk about (and play with) are shoes. She can point out most of her body parts when asked and her favorite parts are her toes. She loves to watch Teletubbies and Booh-Bah and she loves to dance and sing. (If you ask her to wiggle it's especially adorable.) Her most favorite thing in the world to do though, is to sit on my lap and look at pictures on the computer. We just go through all the photo galleries on her website and she is happy as pie. I had to hide all of our family photo albums because she kept going through them and taking the pictures out. I even let her hold my camera and she pointed it at me and said, "CHEESE!"

Oh yeah, since she is constantly picking up things from her big sister (or "Sissy" as she calls her), she has started saying "Ow! Ow!" whenever I brush her hair. Thanks, Juliana.

Thanks for sharing, Tracey. Reminds me of the times I spent with my own daughter. As I've said before, it's so nice to see a young woman today who appreciates the joys of being home with her children. Those experiences can never be duplicated or replaced. Your Mom would be proud of you.

P.S. Is it just me, or is Ava's smile starting to resemble Juli's? ;)

Ah, yes, the hairbrushing screams. Our Julianna produces those as well. Any tips?

Tips? HA! I've got nuthin' for you on that one. Of course, Juliana likes to pretend that the hair brushing hurts even when I'm barely touching her head. I've tricked her into saying that it hurt when I wasn't touching her at all before. It's constant battle for power.

Oh, and Ava is totally getting the Juliana mischevious grin. I fear the day when they finally join forces against me.

Can you believe that its already been 18 months? Our babies will be 2 YEARS OLD in only 6 short months! Ahhhh! Sounds like she is doing great, wish I could get your Ava and my Ava together for some Boohbah dancing. Wouldn't that be the sight! What a cutie.

Julianna does basically the same thing. All I do is mention the word, "comb," and she's running away from me. lol Oh, and just the other day I got a glimpse of what I will be up against when they're older. Let's just say it involved two wet beds... oh, and Julianna now obviously knows how to remove her own diaper. I swear they coordinate stuff like that. lol
